  • Cancel at least 3 hours before your lesson. You will be given a makeup lesson credit.

  • No makeup lesson credits under 3 hours.

  • An absence doesn't exempt the student from paying for the missed lesson.

  • Sign-up deadline is 1 hour before the open slot.

  • Contact me for any long-term change to your weekly lesson schedule.

  • Tuition is forfeited with NO SHOWS.

  • The only exemptions for not cancelling on time are sudden illness and emergencies. You may also text me for this situation.

Sickness:

  • When your child or you(student) are not feeling well, please cancel your lesson as soon as possible.

  • If you are sick but still well enough to have lesson, please switch to an online lesson.

  • If you need to quarantine and you are well enough to have a lesson, I highly suggest having your lessons online.

Performances:

  • Students are strongly encouraged to perform in recitals.

  • A student who is not ready in time cannot participate in performances. This may be due to inconsistent attendance and/or lack of practice.

  • If you do not wish to participate in recitals, please let me know at the beginning of the school year.

  • The option of video recording mastered pieces is highly recommended.

Teacher Absences:

  • The teacher reserves the right to miss lessons due to illness, family affairs such as emergencies, funerals, weddings, reunions, and professional commitments.

  • The teacher can hire a substitute, reschedule, or refund such lessons.

Lesson Termination:

  • Students may be asked to discontinue lessons at the end of the school year if they have an excess number of absences or rescheduling requests. This is especially when the absences and reschedules are hindering the child's progress.

  • Lessons may also be terminated for unpaid tuitions.

Student Responsibilities:

  • Keep your nails always trimmed. It is impossible to have nice, curved fingers if you choose to have long nails.

  • Long nails will hinder the development of your technique.

  • Practice regularly. Practice habits are often discussed in lessons and are different for each child. Parents, please check your child's binders.

  • Bring your books always to lessons or have your books ready before our online lessons.

Parent Participation and Communication:

  • Parents are encouraged to attend and quietly observe a lesson.

  • The teacher reserves the right to ask the parent not to attend if the parent's presence alters the quality of the lesson.

  • Parents are asked to encourage students and to be active participants during piano practice at home.

  • Please check your email once a week for important announcements.

  • Announcements will be sent via email, posted on the Wentzell Piano Facebook Page and also posted in the student portal.

  • Questions, concerns, and/or when in doubt, please don't hesitate to contact me.

  • Communication and checking for announcements are very important. I only see your child once a week. Most of the time, I am unable to talk to you personally before or after lessons.
